Enhanced Email Personalization with Salesforce Custom Fields

December 8th, 2009 · No Comments | Print Post Print Post

Our most recent version of BlastWizard for AppExchange that was released just prior to Dreamforce ‘09 offers the ability to merge data from user-defined custom fields into the email content for each recipient. At this time, however, this feature is turned off by default for all BlastWizard installations. Users can request that this feature be turned on for their account in one of two ways:

  1. Enable reading/merging for all user defined custom fields in the Salesforce org; or
  2. Enable reading/merging for specific custom fields, ones that will be used in email marketing campaigns.

Such requests should be forwarded to our customer support team at onlinesupport@boomerang.com, with “API Names” for the specific custom fields when selecting option (b). Once the feature is turned on, BlastWizard for AppExchange users will be able to pull those custom fields from merge (dropdown) menus in the HTML Editor’s tool bar for appropriate placement within the email body.

Here is an example of a merge code syntax for the custom field “hobby” in the Salesforce contact record:
       `merge:contact_hobby_c
