Using Flash in your HTML Email?
Every now and then, we field technical support calls from our valued customers with regard to embedding Flash in their HTML email. The use of Flash can certainly make your email message more attractive. However, many email designers fail to realize that most email programs simply don’t render Flash by default. This is due to security settings that would have to be manually changed by the user.
So, where does that leave you? Rather than investing a lot of time on something (a Flash file) that most likely will not even be displayed, use that time wisely creating a similar file: animated GIF.
Depending on your requirements, creating an animated GIF may take as little as 15 minutes, up to hours. So if time is of essence to you, spending 30 minutes designing an animated GIF may be all you need.
If you have no experience creating an animated gif, the Internet is full of free tutorials. Personally, I learned by following the detailed instructions at http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/photoshop/animation/layers.html.
TIP: When learning something new, take a few deep breaths and follow the steps in order. Also, keep your animated GIF simple. Happy designing!
