Transactional Email Marketing Update - “Just Do It”

Last month Jupiter Research published a study on the practice of adding marketing elements to existing transactional emails messages, a practice that we at Boomerang have been advocating for a couple of years now.

We’ve always known that transactional emails get much higher open and response rates than traditional marketing emails, but the Jupiter report now adds that retailers are generating something like $2.9 million dollars a year in extra revenue simply by adding cross and up-sell elements to the transactional emails that they are already sending!

Since most of our customers would be happy with annual sales of $2.9 million dollars in toto,  let’s not get too excited about that figure.  But what if you were able to get even a small piece of that?  Definitely worth the cost of adding it to your marketing mix.  And since 60% of marketers in the study reported an increase in revenue due to transactional marketing, the chances are good that you’d see a real financial benefit to go along with better branding.
