Will your HTML end up in “junk mail”?

October 3rd, 2007 · No Comments | Print Post Print Post

It is true that HTML can sometimes be directed into a recipient’s "junk mail" folder.  However, there are ways to decrease the likelihood of this occurring.  For example, you can limit the number of images within the HTML.  Also, if you choose to utilize Boomerang’s services, we offer a content checker that will "score" your HTML document.  Once you receive the "score" you can adjust your document based on the recommendations that the content checker gives you.  A score of 5 or higher is unacceptable and will very likely be caught by spam filters.  Boomerang actually won’t even allow you to send a message with a score of 5 or higher.  We require that your document scores less than 5.  Additionally, Boomerang encourages all of our clients to send multi-part messages (both HTML and text simultaneously).  This way, the recipient will receive whichever message the recipient can view best - and oftentimes this means that if a recipient’s email client is set up to not receive/block HTML, they will receive the text version instead.
